Day 28: “August: Osage County” at the Arts Club Theatre

Day 28: “August: Osage County  at the Arts Club TheatreFor the Westons, one hot summer weekend changes everything forever. This is the funny and poignant account of a dysfunctional family in the midst of a spectacularly entertaining meltdown. When the patriarch, Beverly Weston, disappears for five days, his extended family members gather to reminisce and share stories about him and each other. Beverly is an alcoholic whose best years are clearly behind him. His wife Violet is addicted to prescription drugs, suffers from cancer of the mouth, and cannot resist her compulsion to sling malicious verbal abuse to anyone within earshot. And these are only two characters in this wildly entertaining plot! Widely regarded as the first great classic of the 21st century, this is a not-to-be-missed theatrical event.
